The Middle East

The Middle East is a band made up of talented musicians hailing from Townsville in Queensland, Australia.

While very little information can be found on the band members themselves, all you need to know is that The Middle East is an exquisite mix of musical genius. With melodic combinations that are nothing but raw and honest, their music makes you feel to the point where it seems as if you have stepped outside of reality.

Recently signed with Spunk Records, the band released their debut EP Recordings of The Middle East in 2008, and will be playing at Splendour in the Grass this month.

In an effort to describe their music I would put The Middle East's folk-rock style alongside sounds such as Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, Hose Gonzalez and Arcade Fire. However it must be stressed that this band is, in every sense of the word, ‘unique.’ Each of their songs take you to a different place, their music is truly transporting.

While every track on their EP is musical bliss, the standout has to be ‘Blood.’ The song begins in a pensive mood with pure and soothing vocals. The verses are supported by delicately light guitar, keys and background vocals, which eventually crescendo into a full euphoric sound.

The Middle East’s music creates an emotive and ethereal mood and I can’t wait to see what they can do live. Hopefully we’ll bring you an interview!!!

Check them out and ‘BUY!’ their music in stores or on ITunes.
